The Challenge
Sharp ever had an intranet web site. As time being, the system couldn’t meet their requirements any more.
Firstly, the site is too simple functional and looks boring. Only one home page and several links on the home page, most of webpage are html files and couldn’t hold rich functionalities. The site decorates with only one simple style. For this section, the challenge of the project is to design an attractive website with rich functionalities using latest technology.
Second, Sharp intent to have all staffs to use this intranet and contribute to the site. For IT administrators they need a better way to manage user, permission and content. For employees they want to make comments on pictures, articles etc. For managers they want to keep department information in a central location.
Third, other than an information management system, Sharp manager level would like to use this intranet to be an internal application platform. They want to apply leave, book meeting through the system. And they also want an extendable platform which can offer morefunctionalities in the future.
Forth, one of their division, design center, ask for a special site, which is used to store and share images to all internal staffs in Sharp world widely. They want to collect information, advice, comments as much as possible, they also ask for a contact list library which is used to broadcast news/event to people who feel interest.

After demo and discussion with Sharp, SRKK provided the SharePoint solution to realize all above requirements successfully.
Microsoft mature intranet product
SharePoint is a 10 years product of Microsoft and can fit many intranet scenarios. It is one of the most popular intranet platforms in the market. It has six high-level built-in capabilities descripted in bellowing:

User Interface re-designs with Sharp design center
Sharp design center gave out the design they want. SRKK realized the design with coding behind. For better effects, there are several attractive functions are built inside: world clock, picture slide show, ribbon hidden, menu style, logo per site etc.
Due to the beautiful and user friendly user interface, SRKK wins points of customer satisfaction.
Recourse booking system
Based on SharePoint Resource Calendar feature, SRKK developed a resource booking system which allow users to see the availabilities of all meeting rooms, book meeting room in one click, also can filter meeting room by floor or category.
Sharp managers are impressed by the convenience and straightforwardoperation.
eLeave system integrated with email system
Because SharePoint doesn’t have a complex eLeave system to adopt Sharp’s requirements, SRKK developed eLeave application from scratch. The system realized paperless procedure and is driven by email alerts. The system is easy to queryleave application status for both applicant and manager. Any changes of leave application will inform relative people, follow the email link you can easily process your assigned tasks. The system is also very smart to auto fill most fields, give out leave balance, remind expired application etc.

Design center website
With tools provided by Visual Studio 2010, SRKK developed several Web Parts to realize requirements from Sharp Design Center. With latest technology such as: Asp.net, XML, Ajax, Windows Workflow Foundation, JavaScript etc, the solution was packaged and deployed to SharePoint site.
SRKK discovered the potential of the SharePoint and provided the core value to customer.
Sub site for each division
For each division, SRKK provided an independent site for them. To take the advantage of SharePoint technology, it is easy to save a site as template and create a new site from it. Each site can share all features within the same platform. Sharp’s IT administrators can manage their sites by themselves afterwards.
