Disabling Disturbing Spam Popup Messages in Microsoft Windows

Some of these annoying messages will display the text as somewhat "You have got errors in Registry and need to fix it, so visit the site…", or "There are traces of porn surfing on your PC and to remove them, visit this site…" and many more.

You can click on either OK to visit the site or Cancel to close this pop up window but it wastes much of your time and also irritates as you have to click on Cancel repeatedly to close the windows.

If you are using a computer at home or at small office that is administrated by you, i.e., under your control, then you need to disable the Messenger service in Services. For a Network PC, contact your Network/System Administrator as stopping the messenger service will stop important electronic broadcast messages from the Network department.

In Windows XP,
type services.msc in Run (Start — Run)

Services window will appear, Under Name, select Messenger service by single clicking and then double click on Messenger.

Messenger Properties window as shown above will appear. Under Service status, click on Stop to close the Messenger service. The Messenger service should now be shown as "Stopped" opposite the "Service status".

In the same Messenger Properties window, click on down arrow, opposite to the "StartUp type" and click on "Disabled". This will ensure that when the System Software starts again, the messenger service doesn't start again. Click on OK to close the Messenger Properties window.

Now, close the Services window by clicking on X.

Your PC should now immediately stop getting the spam pop up advertisements that were earlier appearing again and again.
