RPA VS BPA, DPA, IPA

Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Business Process Automation (BPA), Digital Process Automation (DPA), Intelligent Process Automation (IPA)…, they all sound the same, they all seem to look the same, but are they really the same?

to get a clear cut understanding of what each of them is, what they can do, and what are their differences, let us define each first…

Robotic process automation (RPA) is a form of business process automation technology based on metaphorical software robots or on artificial intelligence /digital workers. It is sometimes referred to as software robotics.

Business process automation (BPA), also known as business automation or digital transformation, is the technology-enabled automation of complex business processes. It can streamline a business for simplicity, achieve digital transformation, increase service quality, improve service delivery or contain costs.

Some experts refer to BPA as a catch-all word for a variety of process automation technologies, however there are differing viewpoints on this as well. “DPA, BPA, and RPA — are nearly interchangeable,” said Gina Schaefer, intelligent automation lead at Deloitte Consulting LLP. “Digital, business process, and robotic process automation are all essentially the same,” she continued.

Digital Process Automation (DPA) uses software to automate manual tasks within a business process. The method builds on traditional Business Process Management (BPM) to help businesses transform end-to-end processes and deliver enterprise-wide digital transformation.

By removing friction from the workflow, DPA aims to improve employee and consumer experiences. From IT support requests to onboarding new workers and client intake, the software is utilized to increase efficiency and improve UX in numerous aspects of the business.

Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) refers to the application of Artificial Intelligence and related new technologies, including Computer Vision, Cognitive automation and Machine Learning to Robotic Process Automation.

Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) is the next generation of robotic process automation (RPA) that incorporates innovative, new technology to automate operations more effectively and reliably.

The goals of CIOs are shifting with each step forward in technological growth. In recent years, process transformation and automation have gotten a lot of attention from executives. According to Deloitte’s most recent CIO survey, IT executives and 69 percent of respondent leaders ranked it as their top priority among other emphasis areas.

Conclusion

RPA is widely used in various industries such as business process outsourcing (BPO), insurance, finance, utilities, healthcare, and more. RPA provides you with tools that you can use to create your own software robots to automate any business process. These bots are configurable software designed to perform the tasks that you assign and control. RPA tools use the user interface to capture data and manipulate applications such as humans, and these bots are like a digital workforce – show them what to do and then let them do the work.
